The Best Protection From Airborne Viruses Dental Offices Can Provide
The IQ Air dental series provides 100x more filtration than most air filters which means we can offer the best protection form airborne viruses like severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) responsible for causing Covid-19.
Unlike other air purifiers, IQAir’s filtration technology is proven to effectively filter ultra-fine particles, the smallest and most harmful particles in the air.
The IQAir filtration unit, as used by Evolve Dental Kenmore, is effective against particles all the way down to 0.003 microns in diameter – the smallest particles that exist.
Why is that important?
Ultrafine particles are smaller than 0.1 microns, and make up about 90% of all airborne particles, these particles have been linked to heart attacks, strokes, asthma, and even cancer.
Typically viruses are 0.003 microns in size so using this style of fliter in the dental office helps us protect you from viral infections.
Why is mercury and aerosol control in a dental office important?
IQAir systems filter the harmful mercury vapour and aerosols that get released when dentists drill out silver amalgam fillings. The mercury can threaten the health and safety of patients and staff if it is not filtered and is allowed to be inhaled during treatment.
IQAir Dental Series Pro used by Evolve Holistic Dentist Brisbane, filters mercury vapor, disinfectant smells, and a wide range of VOCs (volatile chemicals). The Dental Series Hg FlexVac, used during treatments does all this and more as it also filters the maximum amount of mercury vapor using a source capture arm located near the patient’s mouth during treatment due to its specialized mercury filtration.

The infection control measures that we use in dental practice to provide hospital grade disinfection and sterilisation have proven very effective at protecting against bloodborne viruses but sadly when it comes to inhalation of airborne viruses (like coronavirus SARS-2), particulate and mercury vapour the standard dental protocols do not have that covered.
That is why at Evolve Dental Kenmore our standard protocol also involves the use of the IQAir during treatments to ensure the highest possible safety standard for you, our patient.
Viruses and other contaminants can quickly spread through the air in a dental office. Drilling and other procedures (like teeth cleaning) can increase the presence of airborne viruses, including viral hepatitis (as small as 0.05 microns in diameter). HyperHEPA filtration filters 95% of even these tiniest of viruses and other contaminants.
