Does your toothpaste have to contain fluoride or is it ok to use a fluoride free one and take a more natural approach to your oral hygiene?
My patients are always asking me what toothpaste they should use as part of their holistic dental care. Most of my patients are into holistic health so want a dental product that is fluoride free and free of harsh chemicals.
Now even though Evolve Dental Healing does stock an awesome natural fluoride free toothpaste range, I do appreciate that not everyone lives in or near Kenmore or wants to shop on an online store.
So for those of you who live too far from Brisbane to call in and purchase from our lovely Kingfisher and Eco-dent toothpaste ranges how about having a go at making your own?
Mix dry ingredients. Add coconut oil one teaspoon at a time, stirring as you go. Stop when desired consistency is reached. Add a few drops of oils to the desired intensity of flavour, stir. Finish in a blender or food processor for a smoother texture. Store in a glass container.
* Try making your own combination of flavours by using one or a mixture of these oils. Pure essential oils are ideal as the primary active ingredient in your homemade toothpaste as they are both antiseptic and nontoxic, a rare combination.
Have fun making your own fluoride-free toothpaste and let me know how it turns out.
